Decisions of the BUEB Leadership & Student Union Operational Working Group (October 22nd, 2025)
11. Extending breaks to 20 minutes
- The Working Group proposes that, starting from the next semester, the current 15-minute breaks be extended to 20 minutes. Accordingly, classes would begin 10 minutes earlier in the morning and finish 15 minutes later in the evening.
- This change would help reduce crowding between classes, allowing more time for using restrooms, eating, and arriving at the next class, among other things.
12. Improving the internal traffic flow of buildings and opening additional student restrooms
- The Working Group proposes further improvements to the entry and exit systems of the university buildings and, where possible, the opening of additional exits.
- Within the limits of technical feasibility, it also recommends increasing the number of women’s restrooms.
- Together with the previous measure, these actions should lead to a noticeable improvement in comfort during breaks between classes.
13. Classroom shortages
- A significant portion of these problems stemmed from classroom booking errors, which must be eliminated starting from the next semester. From then on, systemic overbooking of practical rooms, laboratories, etc. must be prevented.
- When preparing the timetable and allocating classrooms for the next semester, the "peak loads" in individual buildings should be reduced by spreading lessons more evenly across buildings and time slots and by involving additional classroom capacities.
14. Avoiding congestion before midterms and exams
- To reduce problems caused by large numbers of students waiting in small areas before midterms and exams (especially at examination centers), additional information screens should be installed. Furthermore, extending the breaks between assessments and generally increasing capacity are recommended.
